Following the successful launch of phil&teds and Mountain Buggy’s online infant car seat hire service, the company has increased its number of qualified car seat technicians, fivefold.

The new service, a first for the New Zealand brands, aims to provide Kiwi parents and caregivers with further access to infant car seats and bases. Launched in April this year, the previous month has seen a 75% increase in online hireage.

Chief Cook & Bottle Washer, Campbell Gower, says the needs of parents are always changing with many caregivers looking for short term usage options.

“It’s our job to meet those needs, be it through innovative design or adapting in the way we offer our products.

“Often parents do not have the means to purchase an infant car seat or the luxury of time to organise before baby is born. We can have a car seat and base shipped anywhere in New Zealand, to any address, in a matter of days.”

While the new service is both quick and convenient, the company recognises the need to support customers through access to qualified child restraint technicians.

Mr Gower says the recent surge in hireage of infant car seats and bases across both brands, spurred the need to ensure even more of his staff were NZQA qualified car seat technicians.

Graduate, Blair Pedersen, says “at phil&teds, we’re parents too and just like any parent, we’re serious about safety. We understand the challenges caregivers face and how car seat installation can be daunting.

“Understanding what a good ‘fit’ is - be it for your family or your car - is important. That’s where our technicians come in. Through contacting our sales support team, we can enhance parents’ knowledge and confidence to install their child car seat correctly, the right way - every time.”

Mr Gower says “offering this service, and access to more qualified car seat technicians adds another layer of support in meeting the needs of parents - who, at the end of the day, just want to give their babies the best possible start in life.”
